Fishing Report 11mile Canyon 5-26-2011

11mile Canyon is low and clear and fishing tough.  Flows have been sitting around the mid 60 c.f.s. mark for at least a month and what few fish there are left are extremely beat up.  Flies of choice are small gray RS-2's, Red Zone Midges, Brown and Olive Mojo Midges, Barr's Emergers, and small Black Beauties.  Around 4 p.m. on overcast days expect to see a great B.W.O. hatch that last about a half hour to forty-five minutes.  If I was going to fish the canyon again anytime soon I would head up there in the afternoon and avoid the crowds and try and force feed fish with dry flies such as a size 26 Parachute Adams or a Barr's Viz-a-dun in sizw 22-24.  Please land the fish as quickly as possible and handle the fish as little as possible to help preserve this amazing fishery.  For answers to your questions or to schedule a guided trip with me shoot me an email at jonkleisflyfishing@yahoo or call Anglers Covey at 719-471-2984.
